Position: Intake and Crisis TherapistFLSA Status: SalarySalary:
$55,000-$65,000 based on experienceSupervision: Clinical
DirectorBusiness Hours: Monday -Thursday 8a-7pm, Friday 8 am to
5pm. (Schedule TBD with 1 required evening until 7pm).Position
Description: The Intake and Crisis Therapist will provide
assessment, evaluation, supportive therapy, and therapeutic support
to clients seeking mental health services. This includes for new
clients coming for an intake as well as clients coming in to use
crisis services. This position assesses and coordinates behavioral
health care to ensure the most appropriate level of care is
recommended in accordance with all state and federal regulations as
well as company policies and procedures. Provides quality mental
health treatment services through a strength-based approach to
clients experiencing a crisis, in support of the client stabilizing
from a psychiatric emergency, adapting to life situations, learning
independent living skills, and preventing or reducing
hospitalizations. May perform assessments on individuals/groups
suffering from mental illness, issues resulting from substance
abuse and/or other physical or mental ailments. Makes
recommendations regarding the development of treatment plans for
patients, which may involve referring patients to outside services.
The Intake and Assessment Therapist participates in
multi-disciplinary team planning.Essential Functions and Key
Responsibilities
- Performs emergent/non-emergent behavioral health assessment of
mental health and psychoactive substance abuse patients and
complete the diagnostic evaluation.
- Treat crisis situations and emergencies as needed (crisis
psychotherapy )
- Be willing to provide clinical supervision for therapists
obtaining licensure.
- Complete evaluations within the specified timeframe, including
long- and short-term goals.
- Complete progress reports on all patients within specified
timeframes
- Complete all objective documentation in accordance with
department and Elevate policies.
- Respect confidentiality of member records and treatment
- Maintain multi-disciplinary working relationships with
clinicians and other related professionals in the community. This
will include making appropriate referrals, sharing of clinical
information within HIPAA guidelines, and providing clinically
appropriate multi-disciplinary interventions and collaborations.
- Provides services related to court evaluations and testimony on
behalf of clients.
- Make recommendations for the individual's care based on
clinical assessments, givingconsideration to the appropriate and
least restrictive level of care warranted.
- Coordination with the patient's family, attending physician, or
other hospitals and agencies may be required.
- May conduct regular and random urine drug screenings of
individuals seeking services.
- Complete timely and accurate documentation, prepare and
complete clinic progress notes, assessments, reports, schedules,
and other material required as a function of the position.
- Meet all documentation requirements as defined by
organizational policies.
- Fully participate in staff development opportunities offered to
enhance professional growth, especially to maintain license,
certification, or identified program performance skills.
- Participate in planned supervision and case consultation
conferences as necessary.
- Perform other work-related projects and duties as
assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum LMSW seeking licensure.
- LISW, LMHC, LMFT licensed in the State of Iowa -Preferred
- Experience treating mental health disorders and co-occurring
disorders.
- Knowledge of DSM criteria and willingness to continue refining
diagnostic skills within an assessment arena.
- Interviewing and assessment skills
- Culturally responsive and inclusive lens, oriented and educated
in diverse care factors such as gender identity, culture, race, and
age
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively within
multidisciplinary teams both within Elevate as well as externally
within other organizations as needed
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office products
including Word and Outlook.
- Ability to communicate in written and verbal form effectively
and efficiently.
- Ability to shift between dissimilar tasks smoothly and rapidly.
- Ability to make effective decisions while in stressful
situations and circumstances.
- A big heart and a true desire to help improve the quality of
