JobSummary
- Supervise QC personnel and administer functions of branch QC
laboratory. Provide technical support to production.
- Perform required quality control analysis of incoming,
manufactured and outgoing material.
- Ensure all Quality Control practices and procedures are
followed.Responsibilities
- Supervise QC personnel and administer functions of branch QC
laboratory.
- Prioritize and direct daily laboratory activities to help meet
production requirements.
- Enforce proper laboratory safety by serving as the Chemical
Hygiene Officer.
- Conduct at least one formal Performance Review for direct
reports annually at the beginning of the year and an "informal"
review in the Fall.
- Train or direct training of new chemist in all QC functions and
continued staff development.
- Provide operations with timely technical assistance during the
manufacture of new products and/or resolution of
manufacturing/quality problems.
- Maintain records accurately, neatly, legibly, and
completely.
- Maintain a clean and neat laboratory at all times.
- Assure that daily records of bulk tankers are kept current.
This includes confirming that the washout forms have been obtained
and filed and that tracking of a tankers load history (previous
product to next product shipped by individual tanker number) has
been documented.
- Perform required quality control analysis of incoming,
manufactured and outgoing materials with authority to make
acceptance, production adjustments or rejection decisions.
- Maintain a professional attitude and demeanor at all times and
treat others with courtesy and respect and respond to all requests
in a professional manner.
- Promote complete customer satisfaction through quality and
service to both external and internal customers.
- Guides employee performance and development through the use of
daily communication and annual performance evaluations.
- Complete assignments as directed by the QC Lab Manager.
- All staff members are responsible for reporting food safety
problems to their supervisor or the SQF Practitioner upon
observation of a known or potential issue.
- Perform all duties outlined in relevant SOPs and all other
duties to be assigned.
- Uphold Companies Standard of Excellence through a continuous
commitment to maintain quality facilities and provide quality
products and services to internal and external customers.
- Participate in RCRA, regulatory, health & safety and process
training activities as required.
- Review changes/additions with your supervisor. Must be RCRA
compliant.
- Assist with the compiling of information for the "Monthly QC
Laboratory Report."
- Assist the Lab Manager to prepare and administer laboratory
budget.
- Assist the Lab Manager to justify and request Lab-related
Capital Improvement Projects as needed and ensure projects are
completed successfully on time and at or below budget.
- Assist the Lab manager with customer product complaints and
returns through investigation and analysis, and process laboratory
portion of Complaint/Return paperwork. Suggest corrective
action.
- Check all PO receipt tickets required to be provided by
operations to ensure that the bulk load is correct (i.e., the
correct chemical and date).
- Perform instrument maintenance, calibrations, quality control
checks, solution preparations, and solution standardizations.
- Maintain analytical capabilities to accommodate vacations,
increased workloads, etc.
- Generate necessary procedures and product control charts.
- Assist the Lab Manager with the generation of the monthly
wastewater report for City of Waterloo per permit
requirements.
- Works with other staff members to maintain workload balances.
Provides back-up support as necessary.
- Supports effective communication with all departments where
responsibilities overlap to ensure success of the branch team.**For
