Job Description Job Summary: The Orthopedic Walk-In Clinic Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides same-day evaluation and treatment for patients presenting with acute orthopedic injuries and musculoskeletal conditions. The PA works collaboratively with orthopedic surgeons and clinical staff to assess, diagnose, and initiate treatment plans for patients without scheduled appointments. This role focuses on efficient patient throughput, high-quality clinical care, and appropriate triage for follow-up with orthopedic providers. The position will act as an ambassador on behalf of the company with customers, clients, and vendors in public. Essential Duties (not limited to): Evaluate and treat patients presenting with acute orthopedic injuries and musculoskeletal complaints in a walk-in clinic setting. Evaluate and manage spine-related complaints such as acute back pain, neck pain, radiculopathy, and other non-operative spinal conditions. Diagnose and manage common orthopedic conditions, including fractures, sprains, strains, joint injuries, and minor trauma. Provide patient education regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, medications, activity restrictions, and follow-up care. Determine appropriate referrals and follow-up with orthopedic surgeons or subspecialists within the practice. Coordinate care with clinic staff, including medical assistants, radiology technicians, and front desk personnel, to ensure efficient patient flow. Assesses patient health by interviewing patients and performing physical examinations, including obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories. Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as imaging and laboratory studies and interpreting test results. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations, suturing, and managing wounds and infections. Instructs and counsels patients by providing normal growth and development information and providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living. Provides a community of care by developing and implementing patient-management plans. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; and enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experimental growth opportunities. Assist with the coverage of local sporting events as allowed and directed by Employer. Skills and/or Qualifications (not limited to): Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills Ability to evaluate orthopedic conditions, sports injuries and spine-related conditions Ability to manage a high-volume walk-in patient environment Proficiency in orthopedic procedures such as casting, splinting, and joint injections Excellent communication and patient education skills Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and clinical staff Strong organizational and documentation skills Physical Requirements: Bending/twisting/lifting. Ability to lift and/or carry up to fifty (50) pounds. Keen sense of eyesight and hearing. Ability to stand or sit for an extended period. Ability to lift, grip, carry, touch, speak, and listen. Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving. Frequent exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and patient body fluids. Education and/or Experience: Completion of a four-year physician assistant baccalaureate program and a year of clinical training, or. Completion of a two-year accredited physician assistant program (which requires two years of undergraduate study) plus two years of clinical training following completion of PA program. State accreditation based on a certifying exam. Continued employment requires 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years and passing a recertification examination every six years. Orthopedic experience preferred Experience evaluating acute musculoskeletal injuries Highly preferred experience with spine-related conditions (neck and back pain) is a plus
