Job Description Job Description JOB TITLE: Shipping & Receiving
Specialist REPORTS TO: Shipping & Receiving Supervisor FLSA:
Non-exempt JOB SUMMARY: The Shipping & Receiving Specialist
provides for the accurate and timely shipment of products to our
customers with all required documentation. Performs the necessary
procedures to receive goods and materials. Performs various
warehouse duties including but not limited to recycling program
duties. Keeps the shipping and receiving processes organized and
efficient. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates the
day-to-day shipping and receiving of products. Must use shipping
instructions for shipping with multiple designated carriers, UPS,
FedEx, etc. and to ensure correct pickup and delivery as per
packing slips. Must use receiving instructions to receive products
and materials from outside vendors into inventory. Files and
maintains documentation as required. Coordinates and organizes the
storage of finished goods, raw materials, and packaging. Maintains
and protects the integrity for each lot number and revision level
of the product being stored. Maintains and processes accurate
inventory records in IQMS to reflect the physical stock including
storage location. Increases shipping efficiency by pulling and
staging upcoming shipments. Delivers receivables internally as
required. Prepares shipping labels and/or other necessary
documentation used in the shipping process. Develops the knowledge
of domestic and international shipping including but not limited to
AES (Automated Export System), harmonization codes and descriptions
etc. Completes documentation and filing as required. Works with
production, quality, and sales to correct any discrepancies in
inventory that may affect the accurate shipping and receiving of
products. Reports any problems to supervisor. Attends shipping and
receiving docks during normal dock operating hours 8am – 4:30pm
Mon.- Fri. Loading and unloading pickup and delivery drivers, and
answers phone calls. Performs all necessary recycling program
duties. Reports any discrepancies or issues with shipping,
receiving, and recycling program to the Shipping & Receiving
Supervisor. Keeps dock and warehouse areas clean and organized.
Collect, ship, maintain and organize clean room frocks and other
supplies as necessary. Assists maintenance in light duty tasks such
as assembly of office furniture or components, general building
maintenance or basic grounds cleanup. Follows quality and safety
procedures in performing all duties. Other duties as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Education/Experience . High
school education coursework or GED required. Knowledge of shipping
and receiving and the procedures used by a variety of carriers
helpful. Computer Skills . Ability to operate personal computer,
fax machine, copy machine and telephone required. General knowledge
of keyboarding and basic data entry. Language Skills . Ability to
communicate courteously with variety of co-workers as well as
delivery people or freight representatives. Mathematical Skills .
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Understanding of
conversion between weights measurements such as grains, grams,
ounces, pounds, etc. Reasoning Ability . Ability to solve practical
problems and interpret a variety of instructions, forms and work
orders. Other Skills and Abilities . Ability to drive fork truck,
operate pallet jack, move dock plates and carts or other moving
equipment. Supervisory Responsibilities . None Physical Demands .
While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent will be
required to move small packages and equipment under ten pounds very
often. May be required to move or transport up to 55 lbs. Work
Environment . The duties of this job are executed in a variety of
climates moving from office, production and warehouse. Noise levels
will vary from very low to moderate depending on the location that
the work is performed within the facility. The noise level in the
work environment is usually moderate. The description given is
