Job Description:
Safety & Environmental CoordinatorWaterloo, IA$60-110K -Our
Waterloo, IA manufacturing client is looking to hire a Safety &
Environmental Coordinator. This Safety & Environmental Coordinator
will be responsible for coordinating, monitoring and maintaining
all programs, processes and procedures as they relate to the
safety, health, industrial hygiene and housekeeping for this
facility. Those duties and responsibilities would include, but not
be limited to, initiating, administering, monitoring and
continuously improving upon established safety, ergonomic and
health programs; insuring that employees, supervisors and managers
are aware of, and comply with, all federal, state and local
guidelines, procedures and protocols relating to the safe and
effective operations of equipment, machinery and tools used in the
fabrication, manufacture, coating and assembly of products produced
in the plant. In addition those safety, health and housekeeping
issues this individual will also be accountable for coordinating,
administrating and monitoring environment, fire safety and security
protocols necessary to comply with applicable federal, state and
local regulatory agencies, i.e. EPA, OSHA, NIOSH, etc. - As part of
responsibilities of this position the individual will be
responsible for continuously searching for means and methods to
provide a work environment that is healthy, comfortable, safety,
and ergonomically friendly. -Job Duties & Responsibilities: - - - -
- - - - - Develops, implements, monitors and continually refines
all plant safety programs, processes, policies and procedures, and
ensures regulatory compliance with all governmental agencies
including, but not limited to federal and state OSHA & NIOSH and/or
other enforcement agencies. - - - - - - - - - Coordinates all
health, safety and housekeeping programs through the plant
including, safety committee, EMT / First Response assignments and
training, CPR certification, Tornado and Fire Training, Blood Borne
Pathogen Training, posting of required plant safety, security and
signs and notices as required under federal, state and local laws,
etc. - - - - - - - - - - Coordinates the justification, purchase
and installation of all required machine protection and guarding
programs, safety and security signs and postings for the facility,
that identify and define acceptable procedures and actions, or
potential safety and security hazards in the workplace. - - - - - -
- - - Coordinates with the assistance of the department managers,
supervisors and work coordinators the periodic inspection of
equipment processes and procedures to insure that they are meeting
required regulatory compliance and are minimizing the potential for
repetitive injuries and/or lost time accidents. - - - - - - - - - -
Coordinates the periodic monitoring and testing various work
environment issues such as noise levels, air quality, respirator
testing, hearing test, required physical examinations, compliance
with Blood Borne Pathogen Stds., maintenance and updating of all
MSDS / Employee Right To Know logs and training. - - - - - - - - -
- Coordinates with human resources department and the appropriate
area supervisor the timely investigation and response to all
work-related accidents / injuries on the company premises. - This
also includes assessing validity of incident, potential safety
violations, defective equipment and/or other issues, items or
circumstances affecting the incident, and making recommendation for
ensuring there are no reoccurrences. - - - - - - - - - Coordinates
with plant maintenance and management that the company is in full
compliance with all applicable programs, processes, policies and
procedures issued and enforced by federal, state and local
regulatory agencies including, but not limited to OSHA, NIOSH and
others. - - - - - - - - - - Coordinates with plant maintenance and
management setting purchasing standards, storage and distribution,
calibration periodic maintenance and mandated inspections on all
mandated OSHA safety / security materials and equipment. - - - - -
- - - - Coordinates with plant maintenance and management setting
standards for all fire protection programs and equipment including
purchase, repair, upgrading, periodic inspection first response
training and certification. - - - - - - - - - Coordinates with
Corporate EPA Specialist the implementation, upgrading and
monitoring of all plant environmental and industrial health and
hygiene safety programs, processes, policies and procedures to
ensure strict compliance with all federal, state and local
regulatory agencies. - - - - - - - - - Coordinates with Corporate
EPA Specialist, plant maintenance and designated department
supervisor(s) mandatory reporting and monitoring of environmental
matters such as air quality, storm water, solid waste, waste water
treatment, hazardous materials, etc. - - - - - - - - - Coordinates
with Corporate EPA Specialist implementation, monitoring, updating
and reporting of all programs, processes and procedures governed by
or through regulatory agencies such as CAA, CERLA, CWA, DOT, EPCRA,
OSHA and RCRA. - - - - - - - - - Serves in advisory capacity to all
plant supervisors and managers and layout, installation and
implementation of new equipment purchases, rearrangement of
manufacturing processes, changes in safety practices, or ergonomic
workstations improvements. - - - - - - - - - Serves as on-sight
advisor to Corporate Safety & EPA Specialist on all programs,
policies and procedures being considered or implemented at the
Plant to ensure that they are in agreement with corporate goals and
objectives, and to determine if those changes could be of value in
implementing at other facilities. - - - - - - - - - Provides direct
project and reporting support to senior management as circumstances
and situation required input, analysis, information and expertise.
-Education & Experience Requirements: - - - - - - - - - -*
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety Science,
Safety Management or comparable discipline preferred. Associate
degree in these disciplines and extensive applied experience in
these disciplines in a manufacturing plant environment can be
substituted for the four-year degree. - Minimum 1+ years experience
in safety, environmental, industrial hygiene. Entry level or new
grads would be considered as well.Prior working knowledge with
plant safety policies, programs and procedures.Prior working
knowledge of federal, state and local safety laws and enforcement
criteria.Prior working knowledge of federal, state and local
environmental laws and enforcement criteria.Proficiency with
written, verbal, presentation, and telephone communications
skillsProficiency with Microsoft products including Word, Access,
Excel, Power Point, etc.
